GLOBAL GOALS JAM 2023: Building Back Biodiversity – one city at a time!

This event hosted by HaritaDhara Research Development and Education Foundation (HRDEF) with Kanya Gurukula Campus, Dehradun (Gurukula Kangri: Deemed to be University), Haridwar, Uttarakhand.

We are calling on creative communities in cities around the world to take action to protect and restore natural habitats. By working together, we can make a difference in biodiversity and create a more livable future for all.

Our solutions and our technology are never neutral. How we make technology, how we conceptualize it, how we imagine where it fits into culture, and what problems it will solve when placed into product design—these are design choices that can have a deep impact on society.

THEME EXPLORATION

Cities as Problem:
Biodiversity is declining at an alarming rate. One of the main drivers of this decline is habitat loss, and cities are a major contributor to this issue. Cities are often built on land that was once natural habitat, and they also fragment natural habitats by creating barriers to movement. This fragmentation makes it difficult for animals to find food, mates, and safe places to live.

Cities as Solution:
Cities can be key to building back biodiversity. By taking steps to protect and restore natural habitats, cities can provide a home for a variety of plants and animals. Cities can also help to connect natural habitats by creating green corridors that allow animals to move from one area to another.
