The main focus of this year’s jam is on Goals 1, 2, 3, 4, and 11. For Goals 3, 4 and 11 we have organized 'global challenges' brought in by the curators of the EDIT design expo in Toronto. To give you an idea of what a challenge related to one of the five goals could look like, we have drafted a document with 'example challenges' accompanied with guidelines on how to formulate effective challenges. In order to give you an idea of the 'global challenges' for which solutions will be curated and showcased at EDIT, you can download the 'global challenges' document below.

Curated & presented at EDIT

EDIT is a design conference and exhibition in Toronto, taking place from 28 September to 8 October. A Design Exchange production, in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), it presents an “edit of the undertakings and projects that are making the world a better place, for all people.”

EDIT’s curators Julielynn Wong (Goal 3), Kentaro Toyama (Goal 4) and Carlo Ratti (Goal 11) will curate a selection from all results coming from our Global Goals Jams, to be presented at EDIT. Additionally, we will host a final Jam on the spot during the conference, in conjunction with Ryerson University.

All curators have a specific expertise in one of the global goals. Global Goals Jam has asked them to provide a global challenge on a topic that they find most pressing and relevant within their professional field. These global challenges are a suggestion for local organizers to take on – together with their own local challenges!
